When I talk about an end-of-year review the first question I am asked is – Does it really matter? The short answer is yes!
There are 2 primary purposes for this review
- Identify what went well & what we did to create that win. Knowing what we did gives us the opportunity to do it again!
- Identify what didn’t go as we hoped. Our objective with this list is to decide what we are going to do differently to improve our results.
In every year we enjoy wins and some things don’t go as planned – we can count on this. Reviewing our year is not about labeling things as “failures” or “successes” – we are looking for specific things we are going to repeat as well as a particular list of things we are going to do differently.
This is the beginning of planning for next year to be better than this year.
Over the next 6 weeks, we are going to complete the four steps of a year-end review and explore 2 habits that support our success. Join us in taking the first step to a spectacular 2023!
Review Question #1 – What did you expect to happen in 2022?
This question takes us back to the beginning of this year. What were our goals, timelines, priorities, worries/concerns, etc?
I looked at my written goals, calendar in January & journal entries. It took me about 15 minutes to make a list of what I thought this year would bring.
Make a commitment to yourself to take a few minutes to make your list – your future self will thank you.
